CM
What is CM?

CM is run by MTAC (Music Teachers Association of California) MTAC.ORG.  Teachers have to be members of MTAC in order to have their students participate in the program.

CM is a program that gives students a yearly goal.  Each year a student plays there are technical (scales and arpeggios), sight reading (playing music accurately when you see it for the first time), ear training (listening to examples and being able to answer music theory questions) and theory (how music is written) that students are expected to learn.  Every year in March or April, a comprehensive exam is given to students to see if they have completed each level.

Tests take place in the San Diego Area.  The 2015 test will take place at CSUSM.  Cost for the program ranges by level from around $45 - $75 (price includes all parts of the exam.)

Students who complete the program through at least level 8 by their senior year in high school (and have participated in the program at least 3 out of 4 years during high school) are eligible for a senior medallion and a monetary scholarship.

MTAC offers many opportunities through-out the year for students to participate in recitals and other competitive events.
